Complete Poker Tournaments Rules
Poker tournament represents the poker competition that involves the large number of players in particular poker variant or a few poker versions. At the beginning of the tournament all the gamblers are to pay the set buy-in amount and get the certain number of special game chips. These poker chips do not have cash value. The poker tournaments rules do not allow to use money in the tournaments. As usual the amount of the chips is the same as the amount of the buy-in. At some poker tournaments the participants have the chance to use the option of buy-back or re-buy, that means that it is possible to buy additional tournament chips during the game and proceed playing. The pot in poker tournaments derives form all buy-ins, yet, some outside investments may be used, such as the sponsorship or the entrance receipts from viewers. The tournaments in which there are no entrance fees are called the poker freerolls. The poker tournament always finishes as soon as all the players but one forfeit the hand. According to the poker tournaments rules, sometimes the tournament can be finished by the consensus of the last several gamblers in the hand. In such case the pot is divided depending to the in-game money of every poker player. There exist different ways to pay out the prize at tournament. At some tournaments the certain payoffs are assigned for every placing. At other games the participants are paid off in accordance with the percentage scale in which the prize amounts are defined based on the number of the players.
It is also possible to divide all poker tournaments into the single- and multi-table ones. In the single-table tournaments (or STT) the greatest number of participants at one poker table is ten or nine and the poker tournament is played at only one poker table. As the basic poker tournaments rules state, single-table tournaments start when all the gamblers at the table occur and not at the particular time, that is why they are known as the sit-and-gos.
Speaking about the multitable poker tournaments they involve hundreds of the players. Usually there are several stages in such tournaments. First, the so-called satellite poker tournaments are played that are in fact the entering competitions to the main event. The buy-ins in the satellites are usually quite small, for instance 1/50 of the buy-in size at the major poker event. Now the combination of the sit-and-goes and multi-table tournaments is becoming more popular.
All poker tournaments can be open (any players can participate) or invitational (invited participants take part).
Most online casino poker tournaments feature only one community or stud poker, for instance Omaha and Hold’em poker, Seven-card stud or Seven card Hi Lo stud poker games. Some of the poker tournaments offer the mix poker games (that are now the standard poker tournaments rules), such as H.O.R.S.E. (Hold’em, Omaha High/Low, Razz poker, Seven-card Stud and Seven-card stud Hi/Lo), H.O.S.E. (without Razz poker), and others.
The most popular and greatest poker tournaments are the World Poker Tour (WPT) and the World Series of Poker (or WSOP) that are both held in Vegas and Nevada. You can also learn how to win at blackjack tournaments, but be aware of the gambling addiction.
